Triggerpoints are local tensions in the musculature, as everybody knows them. Usually they only inflict pain when pressed upon. However, sometimes these tensions can cause pain in rest or during movements.
In that case, it is called a activated triggerpoint. It is common that they create referred pain to neighbouring parts of the body. As triggerpoint therapists, we know these areas of referred pain.
Treatment of triggerpoints can be done through regulated pressure or by dry needling.
