FAQ - Frequently asked questions
How much time does one treatment at Physiotherapie Fortis take?
Standard treatments are typically 25 to 30 minutes long. During that time you are treated (25 minutes) and the following appointments are scheduled. We try to have more time for our initial session, up to 45 minutes if possible.
Who will cover the costs for physiotherapeutic treatment?
Physiotherapy is part of the “Grundversicherung” (basic insurance, compulsory in Switzerland). Therefore, your health or accident insurance will pay. You do need a prescription (Verordnung) from a doctor.
How much is one treatment at Physiotherapie Fortis in Binningen?
The tariff for physiotherapy is set by the government of the canton. There is a “Behandlungspauschale” (treatment flat rate) and possible “Zusatzpauschalen” (additional flat rate). These flat rates are the same for all of Switzerland, for example 48 rate points for general physiotherapy. They are then multiplied with the “Taxpunktwert” (rate conversion factor) which differs within the cantons. Baselland has CHF 1.03 as a rate conversion factor (Basel Stadt CHF 1.08) which calculates to CHF 49.44 for one treatment. The bill is sent directly to the insurance.
Depending on the diagnosis, therapists may use a higher treatment flat rate of 77 rate points.
What happens if I cancel an appointment or forget about it?
Appointments can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance; you will be given a new appointment. In case your cancellation is too late or you forget your appointment, we will charge you privately CHF 50.– per 30 minutes of treatment. The insurance will not refund this. You can pay this cash on the next appointment or we can send you a bill.
How many treatments are there with one prescription
Usually there are 9 treatments. In some cases, the doctor may prescribe more or less than that.
How long is the prescription valid?
The first treatment has to be within 5 weeks of the date of issue. Thereafter, the treatment may go on for quite some time. If the treatment is not within 5 weeks, the insurance is not bound to refund the costs.
