Whiplash injuries / WAD

Whiplash injuries after an accident or fall is always a big issue for those affected and those around them. And many of those affected are also frightened by those around them. However, over 90% of neck complaints after accidents heal on their own within a few weeks, and only a few have long-term complaints.

In addition to a few serious injuries, whiplash injuries result in micro-injuries to the tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments, intervertebral discs, possibly vertebrae) of the cervical spine. Your body heals these injuries within weeks as it would any skin injury, bone fracture or muscle fibre tear. So where do some people's long-term complaints come from? There can be many reasons for this, but the main reason is certainly a change in movement patterns. These changes cause individual regions of the cervical spine to be overloaded and others to be underloaded. Neither is good.

As always, we will assess your situation and your complaints. At the first appointment, the focus is then primarily on advice for everyday life and how you can prevent the complaints from becoming long-term. From then on, we will work with you step by step to get you back to a normal movement pattern.
