Dry Needling

Dry needling is a second option in the treatment of triggerpoints.

The triggerpoint is treated with a thin needle instead of manual pressure. You almost don’t feel the puncture. When we reach the triggerpoint there is a short pain, followed by a quick release. Usually there is no bleeding when we extract the needle and the puncture can hardly be seen.

Dry Needling

The method

First the trigger point must be found, then the therapist remains with his fingers on the affected area. Dry needling is only carried out on disinfected skin. The puncture is almost imperceptible. Only when the trigger point is hit is there a brief (sometimes intense) pain that quickly subsides. Often a slight, dull ache remains for a moment. The trigger point is hit lightly several times with the same needle, the needle remains in the skin. Normally, the puncture site does not bleed and is barely visible even after the needle has been removed.
